PRIMITIVE
Pottery fired using the ancient Japanese technique of raku. The pieces are fired rapidly to 1000 degrees C before the red hot, glowing work is dropped into bins of sawdust, leaves and other flammable materials.
The fire consumes the oxygen from the glaze.
The pieces are then quenched in water.
The burnt residue is brushed away to reveal the final product.

Bush Story

I love the Australian bush.
As a child I travelled extensively throughout WA, camping by the roadside and sleeping under the stars.
As an adult, I still love camping out and spending time away from the city. I live in a bush suburb, surrounded by trees and wildlife.
I hope these pieces convey some sense of my love for the bush.
