Joy and her husband Brian joined the Whiteman Park Pottery Association in 1989 after studying pottery at Central TAFE.
Joy's pit-fired pottery was particularly admired and is in many collections world wide.

After Brian's untimely passing in 1999 Joy gave up potting, however she is still an active member of the group and has been the Treasurer of the Association for several years.
